About Libre Academy
Libre Academy exists to make learning to code genuinely free and genuinely effective. Passive video doesn't make you a programmer; writing code does. So every lesson puts you in a real editor with hidden tests that grade your work.
What we believe
- Free should mean free. No paywall, no Pro tier, no sign-up wall. Everything (site, desktop app, sync server) is open source under the MIT license.
- Active recall beats passive video. You learn by doing, with instant test feedback, XP and streaks.
- Your books, your courses. The desktop app turns any technical PDF or EPUB into an interactive course.
- Local-first and private. Courses and progress live on your device, with only opt-in cloud sync. Anonymous, cookieless product analytics (Plausible) help us improve the apps, with no personal data, no cross-site tracking, and you can turn it off anytime in the app's settings.
